Way to go, Ms. K! In efforts to build staff morale, we are going to designate a staff member as our "Hawk of the Week". This is a person who is kicking butt in the classroom, taking on leadership roles, reporting to duty, or even participating in culture dress days!
The winner will receive this trophy of our beloved Hawk for a week (protect the Hawk with your life) and a certificate to celebrate your hard work. At the end of each week, we will pass the Hawk along to another outstanding staff member. Mr. Avinger is holding the Hawk in this picture. Who will be holding it next week??? Could be you...Go Hawks!!! Local artist and UNCC faculty member, Sharon Dowell, initiated a project to raise $1,210 for art supplies and a skateboard art project at West Mecklenburg High School. The project was funded through Project Art Aid’s Queen City Soup along with a matching grant from the Knight Foundation.
The artist will visit West Meck (7400 Tuckaseegee Road) on April 21 at 9 a.m. to begin working on the skateboard art project. Students will use their artistic talents to decorate skateboard decks that will be on display for an art show in Dowell’s uptown studio in May. At that time, she will auction off the skateboards to raise more funds for art supplies including paintbrushes, paint and gesso. Dowell will volunteer her time with art teacher Megan Bechtold to guide students on the project. For more information, contact Stacy Sneed at [email protected]. Holy Cow Batman! (In my Robin voice!) We kicked but today, and thank you all for your support. We now have a total of 50 accounts with a total of $3,400.58 being deposited into CMCU from the West Mecklenburg High School Branch "Hawks Metro Credit Union!"
